I have been wearing New Balance Cross Trainers and Running shoes for years due to wide feet....great fit. Now, I bought the 1500 Rainier, 11 4E.....unbelievable!!! We are climbing the New Hampshire 4000 footers. Not one blister. Solid as ever for rock hopping, roots, and balance. The support is the best i have ever had. Now wonder why it was a Backpacker Magazine Editors Choice in 2009. Thank You New Balance. I will buy another pair just to have them...

I have weird wide feet with bonions. If you have normal feet, this review might not serve you.I trained with (40+ miles) and walked the John Muir Trail and other sites (230 miles)with these; NOT ONE BLISTER or hot spots!. Comfortable. The laces were cut in half and a spring clip was set in front in order to give me the ability to tighten or losen the front section without compromising ankle support.Good water resistance.Great on toe-on-rock strikes.Stable on angles and good traction. New Balance's mercy on folks with wide/weird feet have made my life more joyful.I own four pairs of NB shoes and just ordered another pair for fastpacking.
