I ran in the 1226 for a full year found the shoes to be really terrific, but with a few slight issues. Have run in the 1260 for 9 months and find these shoes to be an improvement on the 1226 and overall a fantastic shoe. There is a strong family resemblance, but be prepared for a somewhat different shoe. In general, the 1260 is firmer, both at heel strike and transition, and is a faster feeling shoe. I think of it as a luxurious racing flat with support. Specifically, hereâ€™s whatâ€™s different: Fit: 1260 seems to run about one-half size larger than the 1226. Been wearing 8.5 in all my shoes, but found the 1260 8.0 fit much better than the 8.5. The 1226 8.0 rubbed my big toe. However, there is a bit of tightness at the little toe. (NB: Please allow a few more millimeters of space here. Thanks.) Heel strike: 1260 is firmer and more balanced (inside to outside) than the 1226, which was quite soft on the outside and very firm on the inside. Forward roll: I find that during the forward roll of the shoe, is very firm, flexible and natural feeling, there is a bit more pronation allowed than with the 1226. This might be due to one of two factors. First, the 1260 dropped the two N-ergy pods that were on the outside of the forefoot in the 1226. These might have added some softness there. Also, there does not seem to be quite as much of an tilt at the front of the shoe (higher on the inside than the outside) on the 1260 compared to the 1226. Both of these items are missed by me as I thought they did a lot to add to the stability of the shoe. Both shoes have the same downward sloping angle, inside to outside, that is likely why they are such a great anti-pronation shoe. Both also have a firm but responsive mid-sole that promotes good road feel. Getting into the shoe: Glad to see the ribbon eyelets on the 1226 give way to the traditional drill-trough eyelets on the 1260. Seems like the 1260 open a bit wider, yielding an easier to put-on shoe. All in all, the 1260 is a great shoe.

I dont normally write reviews but after buying this shoe based upon reviews I decided to write it up. I am a serious boxing trainer and I always loved my 993's and was skeptical at first to make the jump. These run HUGE but the insole is great, the toe form is a big plus, and so far they have lasted just as long as my 993's. They did take about 3 weeks to break in, at first I almost returned them but they just keep giving and giving. The kind of shoe you can keep wearing for months and months after it loses its initial bounce(lasted 2-4 months wearing every day and training before they softened even slightly) I am a high mileage guy and they even lasted through a midwest winter. Great for agility, terrific for comfort(I suffer from shin splints and have super high arches very bony ectomorphic feet) and I have had zero problems with these shoes, they will go the full length of the long haul A+ sharp too!
