For over a decade, I have bought dozens of 990, 991, & 992s. I tried the 993s, and I can't buy them anymore :-( !!! The problem is that I run rocky trails, and the bottoms of the 993 are no longer flat like its predecessors. I cannot predict the angle my ankle will turn as I run across boulders. I risk injury just too much with the modification. I hope this will be rectified when the 994 comes out.

My first running shoes were a pair of New Balanace and since then, I've been a keen supporter of its product. However, this particular product was unlike the other pair of New Balances I've worn. This came highly recommended from my orthopedic MD, but in the end, the verdict was this particular shoe was not the right one for me. It was heavy and not very good for long distance running. This shoe took me at least 6 months to fully break in, but the discomfort continued. After constant examination with my MD, I used orthotics, which helped slightly, but added to the weight of the shoe. In the end, while I completed the marathon in these shoes, but it took awhile to gain my stride and the stiff weight, exhausted me more than my previous NB's. I came to a conclusion these shoes were great for leisure walking and running/ jogging less than 5 miles.
